Kitting System

There is often a requirement by Label, Carton and Direct Mail houses for linking multiple components of a job together, so that they may be produced/viewed as a whole or as a part. Often these parts are in a ratio one to another, for example an overall deliverable unit (kit), may require one of its components to be in units of two for each pack. A shortage of any one component would also cause a short delivery of the whole, as a completed unit (kit) must contain a full set of sub-components.

The Imprint system takes this a stage further, allowing ‘sub-kits’, which might be used in more than one overall kit. At any point in time a ‘kit’ may be viewed, showing all components and their quantities, and how many completed units may be assembled at a point in time. Centred around the Imprint Finished Stock program, both in-house produced, supplied or bought in items are catered for. Effects of shortages, or overs after final delivery are fully traceable.

The Imprint Kitting system utilises the multi-component/composite sheet system for sales order processing. An overall job number can be issued for the whole kit, with each sub-component being a suffix, e.g. overall kit is job No.2000, its sub-components therefore would be 2000A, 2000B, 2000C, etc. Finished Stock records can be opened automatically with codes as per the job number, and the Master Kit Finished Stock item automatically receiving the Kit instructions for the related components. Because the system works in an automatic loop, only the information that is different on each component need be altered, giving great speed of input. Any job numbers may in fact be used, or stock codes, thus if one of the items is common, its existing Stock Code may be used, showing its available stock level, existing allocation, etc.

The system allows CSR’s and Production Controllers to have total control and instant information on the progress of multi-component orders without the worry of one component ‘getting away’.
