SHOP FLOOR DATA CAPTURE
A superb module, battle hardened
after some 10 years in the work place. SFDC offers more
individual and
immediate advantages, in one hit, than any other. It
should no longer be regarded as an option but as an
essential part of a fast moving, accurate and effective
Management Information System.
- Operatives no longer use their time struggling
to complete a manual time sheet each day.
- Accuracy of the data captured exceeds anything hitherto
available from manual time sheets.
- No office time is wasted each day keying in the hand
written time sheets.
- Live viewing on screen of the current position of
every job, of every collection centre and
of every operative (updating every 10 seconds).
Particularly useful to Production Controllers.
Environmentally protected,
diskless, PC’s are
used as terminals. With a full screen colour
monitor and a
choice of input
devices; Keyboards, Barcode readers, Pressure
pads, or Touch screens. The data captured
is live-on-line
to the
central
file server so that an individual terminal
can be turned off, or temporarily used
for other
purposes without
any loss.
A full screen monitor allows
for far better error checking of the input; permits
viewing of the
Works Instructions
and
allows alterations to be flagged direct
to operators. The Production Controller
can
use any terminal
to gain access to
the Planning Board or any other part
of the system (via his password): He
does not have
to return
to his office
to find
the next job due on press and whether
the paper is ready; etc.
Functions
- Operators log in first by entering their
code and log off again when they leave.
- Screen sequence is Operator Code; Job Number; Cost Centre;
Operation Code; Quantity run (if
relevant); Narrative Comment (optional).
-
The first screen will display the operator’s
current status and default to the
same job if required.
- The job number will display its Works Instruction. The
Cost Centres and Operation Codes
available are only
those configured for the operator; and the
quantity run and comment fields
only appear when configured
against
a relevant operation code.
- The Imprint help screens are especially useful to those
who cannot remember codes.
- Operators may be allowed (via a password) to correct
errors and omissions.
- Paper and other materials may be booked to jobs through
the same screens simply by entering
the appropriate
Cost Centre (the screen questioning alters
accordingly).
- Daily time sheets are printed out in the office each
morning. They may be edited before posting.
Set Up Files
- Configure the system; Configure the stations;
Configure the view screens.
- Some stations may be configured to be specific to one
machine. This allows for the
least amount of input
keystrokes and integrates to the Production
Control planning board.
-
Other stations may be configured as ‘General
Purpose’ with
a few of terminals covering
the whole factory giving equal access to everybody
and every centre. In this arrangement
all
the operatives
can use
their nearest
station at any given moment.
Features
- The system allows 24 hour working, 7 days
a week. The shift patterns may be set from 6am to 6am.
- Paper may be booked via a bar coded stock label and automatically
deducted from stock.
- Downtime is a special type of Job Number with Operation
Codes specific to itself.
-
Author’s corrections has a recording routine
specific to itself.
- A factory may be a mixture of Shop Floor Data Capture
and some manually maintained
time sheets.
- Section by section identification.
- Staff attendance reports are available to match against
payroll.
- All collected data is retained in the system for years
and may be accessed at
any time by the Imprint Report
Generator.
